Thermal foot manikin system is used for testing various kinds of footwear, like socks, shoes, boots etc. There is presently no standard to test footwear on a thermal foot model1, however, methodology follows the routines for any other thermal manikin standard. The principles for measuring and use of the results are described in scientific literature2,3. The foot model can be manufactured with negotiable number of zones to meet the customer needs, and the number of zones defines the level of detail in insulation or evaporative resistance measurements4. Of course, in some cases only heat loss or temperature change may be of interest.
